A Clinical Analysis of Ruptured Intracranial Aneurysms. Sam Suk Kang;Joong Wook Park;Jae Kwang"





Abstract
The authors analyzed 132 cases of intracranial aneurysms experienced in the department of Neurosurgery, Chonnam University Medical School from 1977 through 1982.
The results of clinical analysis are as follows.
1. Cerebral aneurysms ruptured most frequency in 5th and 6th decades(61.3% )
2. Aneurysms were mainly located in anterior part of circle of Willis, : anterior communicating(34%), internal carotid artery(30.3%) and middle cerebral artery (25.7%) in order.
3. 33. 1 % of those had the episodes of more than one subarachnoid hemorrhage. 51.1 % of these sequent episodes developed within 2 weeks after last bleeding.
4. Preoperative mortality within 2 weeks after last SAH was 27. 1 % ; main causes of deaths- were attributed to be re bleeding in initially good group and downhill course assumed to be due to delayed schema and/or increased ICP in poor group.
5. There was neither operation death nor morbidity in cases with cervical carotid legation and surgical mortality of direct approach was 12 % in cases operated in good condition.
